The composition naturally varies depending on the manufacturer. Basically, the following raw materials are used for glass production: Sand, soda or potash, lime and various metal oxides.
Together with a certain proportion of used glass (must be of the same quality), the glass is melted at approx. 1500°.
There are various causes of deposits on glasses. The main reason is limescale caused by hard water or too much rinse aid. When washing up, the dosage of salt, rinse aid and detergent is therefore crucial.
1. check whether the dishwasher is set correctly; the manufacturer of the dishwasher can often help you here.
2. clean the glasses by hand with conventional cleaning agents to remove limescale and then polish them.
Alternatively, the glasses can also be treated with vinegar essence and citric acid.
Important: If the glasses show small cracks, this is often due to glass corrosion, which unfortunately cannot be treated.
Although certain wine glasses are also suitable for the dishwasher, the best washing results are achieved by hand. With a little care, breakages can also be avoided.
Glasses of any quality can absorb odors from the environment as they have very fine pores. Spirit and lemon juice adhere particularly stubbornly - white vinegar is better suited so as not to negatively affect the next wine enjoyment.
The stem of wine glasses of any quality is very delicate. It is therefore advisable not to touch the glasses by the stem when drying them, but to hold the goblet lightly by the curve. After use, dishcloths should be washed without fabric softener. The next time you polish the glasses, a greasy film will remain.
