An eventful company history and a look into the future

The foundation stone of the company was laid in Italy in 1925 by the founder of the same name. A milestone in the company's history was the acquisition of the Royal Majolica and Glass Manufactory almost 30 years later, which was continuously expanded and extended. By 1903, over 100 people were already working for the factory. The demand for glass grew, not least due to the wars and the need for transportation options for medicines worldwide.

Production was increasingly supported by machines over the coming decades. In 1960, Bormioli Rocco purchased the first machines for tempered products and in 1976, a further breakthrough in the company's history followed with the development of the first pasteurized glass for domestic use. Since 1998, Bormioli Rocco has been working with a new type of technology that makes it possible to produce fine glasses with drawn stems by machine.

In 2014, another branch of the company was established in addition to tableware. Since then, Bormioli Rocco has been manufacturing glass bricks for the construction industry. Today, the glass manufacturer exports its products to over 100 countries and has three production sites.

What makes Bormioli glass so special?

Bormioli Rocco employs its own team of developers who are constantly researching new materials, processing and production technologies to meet the high demands of the catering trade.

  • Opal glass for tableware
Opal glass is used for the production of Bormioli Rocco drinking glasses and Bormioli Rocco wine glasses. A special chemical composition creates the characteristic white hue that symbolizes hygiene, style and purity. The glass is also 100% recyclable. The lack of porosity prevents the absorption of foreign substances into the material and the brand's tableware is dishwasher and microwave safe.
  • Star Glass in crystal quality
Glasses made from Star Glass material are virtually free of color shading. This makes them comparable to crystal in terms of clarity, but much lighter and more practical to use on a daily basis.

Bormioli Rocco glass products meet the high demands of the catering trade for glassware, which on the one hand must look high-quality and elegant and on the other hand should also be able to withstand intensive use.
