The British manufacturer of ceramic tableware can now look back on over 200 years of history. The brand is named after a village in Derbyshire, where the foundations of the successful company were laid. William Drury-Lowe produced stoneware bottles on his estate at the beginning of the 19th century. Step by step, new partnerships were formed and the brand became better known. After 1860, the ceramics were created using a patented process for drying slips. At that time, the stoneware was still glazed with salt.

By improving the kilns, it was possible to manufacture more and more new products. The product range soon expanded to include ink bottles, jam jars, jugs, mortars and snuff jars. Decorative ceramics were also created at this time. Thanks to the central location of the company site in Denby, the products quickly became known beyond the region. In 1959, the company acquired the nearby Langley Mill Pottery to expand its capacity. After the company was taken over by the Colorell Group, the stoneware range was expanded to include glass and metal. Since 2019, Denby has focused on themes such as the versatility, sustainability and functionality of its own stoneware products.
