The Schönwald porcelain factory can look back on over a hundred years of tradition. At the site of the same name in Upper Franconia, porcelain has been produced for the hotel and catering industry as well as for hospitals, canteens, airlines and cruise operators for over 130 years. The company was founded by Johann Nico Müller in Schönwald in 1879, as all the raw materials for porcelain production were available at this location.

The brand grew rapidly and quickly went public. At the end of the 19th century, Schönwald Geschirr then specialized in the production of hotel porcelain, which was able to meet the special demands of the upscale catering trade in terms of aesthetics, functionality and durability. Today, the Schönwald tableware brand belongs to the BHS Tabletop group of companies.

Over the past decades, the Schönwald tableware brand has repeatedly invested in expanding capacity, improving product quality and developing new product lines. Since 2009, a high-performance fast-firing kiln has been in operation at the site, with the most modern firing technology in the world. This has enabled Schönwald to expand its production capacity even further and today produces around 45 million pieces of Schönwald tableware.

In addition, the fast firing kiln reduces both energy and fuel consumption, which protects the environment and saves costs. Today, Schönwald tableware is exported to over 100 countries. At the heart of the brand are the employees, some of whom have been producing Schönwald tableware for several generations. This has enabled the brand to maintain its location in Germany to this day.
